Brittany Ann “Britt” Baker, who was born on April 23, 1991, is more commonly referred to by the title “Dr.” Britt Baker, D.M.D., is a fully licensed and practicing dentist and American wrestler best known for her work in All Elite Wrestling, where she is a one-time Women’s World Champion. Britt was one of the first female signings in the then-new AEW promotion and one of the key figures in their women’s division after getting her start on the independent circuit. She won the AEW Women’s World Championship for the first time from Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing 2021. However, she lost the title to Thunder Rosa in March 2022. She was talented, smart, and quite sadistic. “A role model is familiar with these tropes!” Name with alliteration: Britt Baker. Thunder Rosa, the arch-enemy, came to a head in a spectacular match on the St. Dynamite’s Patrick’s Day Slam edition. Aubrey Edwards, referee, is another major foe of Britt’s—at least in her mind—as part of the plot to harm her. Notably, Aubrey was the one who counted the pin in both of Britt’s St. Patrick’s Day Slam defeats to Thunder Rosa. Saraya, following a Face/Heel Double-Turn that turned her into an antagonistic face and the veteran back into a nasty heel. Badass Bookworm: Until you realize that it means she can make you tap out by attacking the nerves in your mouth, the whole “dentist” thing sounds funny. Beleaguered Assistant: Britt hired an ex-TNA Knockout Rebel to be her personal assistant while she was in a wheelchair because of a leg injury. She stayed with her even after Britt recovered. Despite Rebel’s repeated requests to the contrary, Britt frequently makes Rebel’s life miserable by persistently calling her “Reba.” In brutal matches for the Women’s division, she wore Blood Is the New Black. Breakout Character: AEW’s women’s division, in contrast to the men’s division, which was able to build itself on names like Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Jon Moxley at the beginning, was forced to try and build their own stars basically from scratch off a mix of independent and joshi wrestlers who very few American fans would be familiar with. She was there to support her then-boyfriend Adam Cole, and she was sitting in the crowd when Cole took a big bump during the main event War Games match. She covered her mouth with her hands in shock, but the camera focused on her because the production crew decided she had the best reaction of anyone in the crowd (with Mauro Ranallo It became a sort of meme, and later, AEW would make fun of it by having Britt make the same face every time Nyla Rose punched a referee through a table during a match. Combat Medic: She is a real dentist in addition to her work as a wrestler (and will continue to do so until 2023). In fact, her first year of dental school and her wrestling training mostly overlapped, and by the time she got her D.M.D.* in 2018, she had been competing in the indy circuit for three years. After that, Britt and Shida started to regularly work together or go to the ring together. However, Shida ended their partnership on the September 13, 2023 episode of Dynamite as a result of Britt indirectly costing Shida her Women’s World Champion Title at All In 2023 and one too many instances of accidental friendly fire. A Hero to Her Hometown: She always plays a heel whenever she is in Pittsburgh, the major city closest to her hometown of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where she went to dental school. To emphasize her point, she even uses the name “Brittsburgh” for her hometown. I Am the Noun!: “I am the division of women.” Insistent Terminology: Don’t forget to call her Doctor Britt Baker. That is Dr. Britt Baker, a D.M.D. It’s All About Me: Britt has really become overconfident ever since she turned heel. Britt: Thunder Rosa, you ought to express your gratitude to me each day that you wake up. You should express your gratitude to me because I will always remember you. You have the opportunity to be a part of the history I penned with my own blood! And then you… and then you have the audacity to say that you put women on the map here in my division, in my company. So, why does everyone talk about me? Living a Double Life: Before leaving her small private practice in 2023, she was a mild-mannered dentist by day. However, at night, when she wasn’t hurt, she was the brutal and talented face of AEW’s women’s division. Strange Friendship: Despite the fact that she is a heel, she is well-known for her friendship with Tony Schiavone—of all people—despite the fact that their wrestling personas are very different from one another.
